Emily Cho began volunteering at juvenile centers and federal prisons at thirteen and quickly found a recurring gap: incarcerated youth had almost no access to hands-on STEM education, yet lit up the moment someone put a circuit board in their hands.

That same year, she founded Juvie for STEM, a youth-led nonprofit bringing coding, robotics, and mentorship into correctional facilities across the country. Today, JSTEM serves nearly 20,000 young people across North America, South America, Europe, and Asia.
